Now we'll show you how to frost the base of the skirt, when you're using the rolled fondant
you still need to put a base of butter cream icing over the whole cake. Now when you frost
the cake you want to use a lot of frosting on your spatula and always frost on top of
frostings. The first glob is going to go on and the second glob you put on top of the
first one and then spread it over. Now when you do that, when you frost on top of frosting
it keeps from picking up crumbs in the frosting, you will always have a nice, clean frosting
without any crumbs, and you can use a motion like this going back and forth to spread the
frosting, and just keep pushing it along and then coming up the cake also, like this. You're
going sort of edge to edge, edge to edge, that's were the motion in frosting the cake.
You put some more here, you just kind of work your way up and work your way around. And
then coming back to smooth over any rough spots.
