this is going to be a baby dress made with solomons knot
i am using an f - 4,25mm crochet hook
i am starting off with forty of the chainless half double crochet
continue that to the end
until you have forty of the chainless half double crochet
now at the end of the foundation
chain two
do a half double crochet in the next half double crochet
two half double crochet in the stitch after that
one half double crochet in the next
two half double crochet in the stitch after that
and continue across
with one half double crochet in the next stitch
and two in the stitch after that
i am finishing up row one
chain two
row two is a half double crochet in each half double crochet across
i am finishing up row two
now row three
will be a chain two
one half double crochet in the next stitch
two half double crochet in the stitch after
continue across
with the half double crochet increase every other stitch
for row three
i am finishing up row three
chain two
row four and five
will be a half double crochet in each half double crochet
row six
will be a half double crochet increase every three stitches
two individual half double crochet
two in the same stitch
continue across
on round seven, we will be shaping the arm holes
on the front and back of the dress
and as you can see from each side
i have a marker
marking forty stitches
from each side
chain two
work one half double crochet in each of the next fifteen stitches
now do five of the chainless half double crochet
now we are going to be skipping these twenty-stitches
right here that i have left open
continue in the next half double crochet past the marker
along the front
and we will be doing half double crochet between this marker and this marker
now i am at the marker on the other side and i am going to do five more of the chainless
half double crochet
skip twenty-four half double crochet
one half double crochet in each of the remaining sixteen stitches
now the main part of the dress is going to be made with solomons knot
or i've also heard it called the lovers knot
i will do a single crochet
now i'm going to pull up about half an inch or so
i am going to hold on to my stitch and keep it separate like that
and then single crochet between the stitches
for the first part of it
i am going to do the same thing again
skip two half double crochet
and do a single crochet in the third
and repeat all the way to the other side
now i am finishing up
now i am just going to do one knot
to get up to my next round
turn
and then i am going to
single crochet on each side of my previous single crochet
and it doesn't matter with loop you put it through
and then do two more knots
single crochet in the center
first on the right side
and then on the left side
and continue that around
do a single crochet on each side
and continue that to the other edge
now at the end of this row
you will want to join
from now on it will be worked in the continual round
just doing the single crochet on each side
of the previous center single crochet of the knot
this is the front
this is what the back is looking like
when you get around here
you just
do your knot in here, here and then continue on around
i have finished up the main part of my dress
i have several rounds here
i don't think i am going to add an edging on it because i think i like it just how it
is
sew in the tail at the bottom of the dress
just knot it in here
and cut it off
both arm holes will be the same
i am just going to do
a slip stitch, chain one
and then single crochet around
and the single crochet just gives it a finished look
i am crocheting over my tail here so i don't have to sew it in later
i am just finishing up the arm hole
slip stitch in the beginning single crochet
and pull your yarn through
cut your yarn and sew it in
sew the armhole tail in-between the previous stitches
and then cut it off
and do the other arm hole the same way
now we want to do the closure to the back and make some button holes
and just attach the yarn
and do the single crochet
and you will want to do this before you do the edging to the neckline
you will want it to be even so it has a nice finished edge
and now i am going to chain one
skip over a little bit here
and do a single crochet
now i am going to test my button to make sure it fits alright
and it seems to be alright
you don't want it to be to loose
because then it will just fall apart
so a little more snug is alright
and i am going to do a couple more
single crochet
another chain one
i am doing two buttons
and then skip over a little bit
single crochet
now i am going to chain one
and slip stitch right down here
chain one
and single crochet in my previous single crochet
and in each single crochet across
and single crochet in the chain one space
cut the yarn
and sew in the tail
now on the other side of the opening
i am going to do a slip stitch
right in here
and then single crochet in each
stitch that i can
crochet them evenly across
you are crocheting on the edge it will be a little bit difficult
to find a place to put your hook
you will be able to find a place
this gives it a nice finished edge
now cut your tail
and then sew it in
i am knotting in my yarh
before sewing in my button
i have a smaller size needle
what i like to do is take my button
and put it through my button hole
and then just align it
to make sure it is even
and pull it on through
and sew through the center of the button a few times to make sure it is secure
now i am going to make a couple knots
and hide my tail
cut it off
i have the first button and button hole completed
the second one is done the same way
i am completed the second button hole
i am attaching my yarn
and single crocheting around
to give the neck a finished look
cut your yarn
pull it snug
and sew in the tail
there is what it looks like finished
for a finishing touch
i am going to add
a little crochet rose
and just knot it off
sew in the tail
