G'day Shedders. Welcome to another episode of Shed TV for the month of July.
We're focusing on the topic of hearing this month and are teaming Australian Hearing to
deliver some important messages around hearing health. First up we have an interview with
Australian Hearing Ambassador Dr John D'Arcy, 'medical editor' for The Seven Network's Sunrise
program. Dr John tells his story of living with a hearing impairment, his journey to
getting a hearing aid and how this has improved his quality of life.
We have an expert from Australian Hearing available to answer your questions about hearing,
so send in your questions and stay tuned for answers on the site.
Also, in our blog section of the site we have an article on how your hearing can change
as you get older and what you can do about it.
It's Men's Health week this month and this year's theme is 'Health Snapshots' - showcasing
events that local communities are running for men to encourage better health and wellbeing.
This Men's Health Week, Australian Hearing will be offering free hearing checks as part
of 'Spanner in the Works'. This program is run by the Australian Men's Shed Association'.
It's a series of Men's Health screening and information sessions held at Men's Sheds all
around Australia. We have a video on the site which gives you some insight in what goes
on at these sessions. Find out from your local Men's Shed to see if the Spanner In the Works
program is coming your way, and if it is - put the date in your diary. It really is a great
way to get a handle on your current health situation.
Many blokes don't pay much attention to their health until something goes wrong. Men's Health
Week is a great way to get on the front foot, so check out the Men's Health Week website
to see what community events are happening near you.
In the activities section of the site we have a brand new activity which guides you step
by step through how to transfer your vinyl records to your computer. Preserve your favourite
records and even load them onto your portable MP3 player to listen to them on the road.
That way, you can listen to your favourite Max Bygraves, Dean Martin, Demis Roussos,
Elvis or Spandau Ballet favourites anytime you like.
Lastly, make sure you check out the discussion area of the site for a wide variety of topics
ranging from DIY, travel to health and relationships.
And with lots of news and events - there's always something to read on The Shed Online.
That's it for this month. 'Til next time Shedders!
