What is uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage and why is it important? My name
is Brett Zekowski. I’m from the law firm of Parker Waichman. And I’m here to answer
some of your questions. Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage provides money to people
who were hurt in accidents due to someone else’s fault if those other people were
uninsured or underinsured for the type of injury that the person has. The sad reality
is that a lot of people drive around today with little or no insurance coverage and oftentimes
it is very difficult to be able to go after those persons’ personal assets to get any
money for your injury. The law provides an alternative to get some measure of money or
compensation from your own insurance company for your injury if the person who is at fault
is either (1) uninsured or (2) underinsured. If you have done the smart thing and you have
protected yourself through your own insurance coverage, you can get extra benefit – extra
money – in order to try to compensate you for the level and type of injury you sustained.
We handle these types of cases every day. Call me, Brett Zekowski at Parker Waichman,
and I can answer any questions or concerns you have about uninsured or underinsured motorist
coverage. Thank you for watching.
