Hello everyone, this is GTT, and this episode we're just going to be doing it on Windows 98.
This tip is for Windows 95 through Vista, and what we're going to tell you to do today is
how to capture your screen and save it as a file so you can look at it later or email it to someone or whatever.
So, the first thing you're going to need to know is where your print screen button is.
For laptops, it might be up here, it might be down here, it might be over here.
Mine is up here. You might need to press the function key to get it.
For desktops, it should be up in here in these three here. If it's not,
then just look around, try to find it. If you're using an Apple keyboard, they do not have a print screen button,
so you're out of luck. Sorry.
So, what you need to do is to get your desktop how you want it, and then press your
print screen button.
Then go ahead and open up Paint.
Once Paint is open, press Ctrl+V, and you'll have the picture in Paint.
Now from here, you can do whatever you need to for this picture.
For instance, you could do something like this.
Or maybe you could do something like this.
I don't know.
Or maybe you need to do something like this.
I don't care what you do to it, just make sure that you do it right, ok?
And then go to File>Save As, and choose what you want to save it as and where you want to save it.
So we're just going to save it on the desktop as Test.
Then you can close out of Paint, and it'll be right here.
All you have to do is double-click on it and it'll open back up.
So, let's review the steps one last time.
1. Press your print screen button.
2. Open up Paint.
3. Press Ctrl+V.
4. Go to File>Save As.
Pretty simple.
Thanks for watching GTT. Catch me next weekend and we'll get back on Vista doing a tutorial on Switcher for Vista.
It's really neat, it does Expose pretty much, and it uses Aero so it has live previews. It's really nice.
Next week, it'll be back to Vista, and we'll just hop around which operating system we haven't done for a while.
So thanks for watching GTT, and I'll see you next time.
