Why I like guns?
I would like to think of it as a tool.
Men like tools and I'm interested in this rare tool specifically.
The urge built up to handle a real gun while I've been playing survival games.
So I always had the passion.
I am off to Los Angeles.
I am off to Los Angeles.
I'm finally at my lodge now.
Middle-age crisis? No, I don't think so.
Rather, it's to expand my acting style with this experience.
It kind of a new leap.
I should get some sleep now for tomorrow.
I'm awake.
I had a special morning on an exotic place.
When I realized it wasn't my home, Ted asked to go to Wal-Mart.
I only brushed my teeth thinking we were having breakfast there.
So we headed for Wal-Mart...
Okay, we arrive at Wal-Mart.
We are here to buy groceries? Water or fruit?
Nope, we are here to buy ammunications.
Adults in America can legally buy ammos.
It's categorized in the 'Sporting Goods' section.
The same goes for golf balls and tennis balls.
Let's go in and buy some ammos.
I only saw buying ammos in Wal-Mart on documentary channels.
But experiencing myself it was quite awkward.
Because it's completely illegal in Korea.
I feel like doing something wrong.
I bought the ammunitions from Wal-Mart.
I dragging the cart and bought 500 ammos.
It was a new experience having them bagged in a plastic bag.
What an offbeat experience.
Now, I have successfully bought the ammos from Wal-Mart.
As I said, the ammos are categorized in the sporting good section.
If it's used as a sporting goods it's considered a sport.
That's how I bought the ammos.
It was as easy as buying a battery.
Now, I am at the shooting range.
It's for civilians so there are rules to follow.
Today, I will get handgun lessons.
I and Ted went to shooting range and did some pistol shooting practice.
The lesson was focused on 'Fast Draw Drill'.
We can hardly practice 'Fast Draw Drill' in Korea.
I felt flattered when I shoot faster and aimed well.
I'm tensed right now.
I'm pulling the trigger too fast seeing I missed several shots.
Or I didn't see the iron sight well.
I didn't make a habit of the 'Finger Safe' which is crucial in shooting.
When reloading the magazine,
I didn't intent to but my fingers were on the trigger
Your finger...
- The index finger? - Yes, the index finger.
It got worse strangely.
Insert it first then insert the magazine.
Adjust it then take it out and it's back in.
It seems you're doing it as a habit and not a mistake you're making.
My habit with handling an airgun was applied in training with an actual gun.
The real guns may link to safety directly.
Such habits should be changed ASAP.
I got a chance to fire a colt python and a ppk.
A 375 magnum. It's written 375 magnum.
I don't know where to place my thumb. Because the gun's quite small.
After firing 400 rounds
my finger tips and face turned all black from gunpowder.
Of course, I was exhausted.
I really wanted to fire all the ammos I bought earlier.
They say I fired 350 ammos.
It would have been great to fire all 500.
I heard S.W.A.T. team was having a shooting exercise.
So we decided to sneak in...
Actually, we got permission to watch their training.
Three S.W.A.T teams from different cities are training.
We are at an live training site.
First time seeing them train, it's really awesome.
A variety of tactical firing at a plane range
and using a bulletproof vehicle.
The bulletproof vehicle is
one the best selling vehicles in the tactical field.
It's usually used for law enforcement than the military.
For transferring the wounded during a crossfire
or to transfer tactic units more safely.
It's possible to shoot criminals inside the vehicle through the lenses.
What now, if I go back to Korea?
Go to the roof with a BB gun?
I really didn't want to return to my lodge
after shooting real bullets and seeing the S.W.A.T training.
We're going to start off with the basics.
So, I decided to learn some basic S.W.A.T. tactics
from team leader Mike.
There are no advanced techniques
just basic techniques that are repeated over and over again
till they get smoother.
We will start off with standing position.
We are 50 yard away and fire two rounds.
From the standing position into the steel sihlouette
and we will progress from there.
We will start with two rounds in a kneeling position
then two more round from a lying position.
Some of the stances may not seem dynamic or exciting
but if you boil it down to any possible engagement posiiton you're from
you will be using one of those positions.
Whether it may look a little different the core position is always the same.
Trigger-pull, side allignment they all remain the same.
Just the basics repeated over and over again.
Good stance and if I say fire
wrap it up and fire two well aimed shots.
You put it back on safe 'low ready'.
Just like that, okay?
Okay, ready?
Fire.
Good.
Now we will progress.
We will do two rounds standing and then down to the kneel.
I'll demonstrate first to show you.
Come up, it's a little more stable.
This is less stable but easier to get into.
There are also a variation of a kneeling which is a squatting position.
Sometimes it's harder to get into this position.
We're going to get into a prone position.
Inbetween your position the safety is always back on and figure out trigger
rifle's going to come up
Post out and you're already here plant your hand out
and straight back.
Right.
Ready.
Fire.
Even if I've received training on the East Sea with wearing proper gears.
I didn't know it was so backbreaking because I didn't move a lot
but I was soon out of breath.
Well, I guess Mike was exhausted just like me.
We're going to move from here to that line.
And we're going to shoot on the move.
In on you to shoot but don't shoot beyond the line.
It may look easy but shooting while running under the sun
wearing 30Kg bulletproof vest and gears...
It was far from easy.
Mike told me something for fun.
There's a saying for S.W.A.T. training.
First rule. Always sit down when you can.
The most important.
'Sit down when you can.'
Okay, ready. Fire.
It was so much fun learning tactics from Mike.
It was a great episode ever though quite tiresome.
Thank you very much for coming out here.
I had a great time and you're a great student
and a great shooter. Here's a team hat.
A chance to experience the S.W.A.T. style tactic training.
While I am training, It's quite hard.
But once it's over I miss it already.
I miss the fact that I couldn't shoot this one.
So...
I'm at the airsoft gun shop which has various guns in L.A.
As it builds up its reputation the wall was covered with guns.
It had quite a lot of gun equipments.
I was overwhelmed and kept looking around.
But something popped in my head.
I just received tactic training with a real gun.
I'm in a country where I can shoot with actual guns.
Why would I need an airsoft gun?
I wondered why such shop would exist.
For the past 10 years airsoft gun has been very popular
more acceptance and sold in big stores.
now, gamers tend to be more casual players.
Less of the collectors and just game players.
But there is a crossover.
There are a segment of airsofters that move into real guns.
You have the military dressup and the guys with real guns
or they're going to join the army.
There is that common interest but that's part of the market.
As far as for airsoft guns versus real guns
many people that play airsoft they don't really like real guns.
It's not the guns that they like it's the game that they like.
All boys like to shoot at each other.
If it's not airsoft guns, it's water pistol or garden hose.
Actually, many of them don't even care about the military dressup.
They just want to shoot their friends and have fun.
