Hi, I’m Jill from Close To My Heart and today I’m going to
show you how to add dimension to your artwork by using
our alcohol-based markers to shade, blend, and layer in a
whole new way. With marker sets in all of our exclusive
colors, there’s so many possibilities to bring your artwork
to life. Let me show you how to use these markers. If you
take a look at this layout here, all of these cute doll clothes
have been colored with one layer of solid color. So there’s
no accents, there’s no highlights, but you get such a
beautiful clean coverage every time you color with the
alcohol markers.
Now let’s take a look at this layout here. This is a way to
see how layering your colors can come to life. On our title,
we’ve added three layers of Blush ink, so you get a nice,
clean coverage with more intensity by adding layer upon
layer. I’m going to show you a sample of these so you can
see the difference. On this S, I’ve done one layer of solid
color of Blush ink. And again, you can see you get a nice,
smooth coverage but here you can see the difference in
adding a third layer. So we’ve done a second and then a
third to get that much more intensity and you still don’t
see any lines and you get beautiful coverage every time.
On these adorable paper dolls you can see that we have
some beautiful accents; this was done by adding multiple
colors of ink. So, on this dress I’ve used Hollyhock as well
as Blush so that I get a nice blended accent to my art. And
on this piece here, I’ve used Ruby and Cranberry so you get
a very distinct look when you are accenting and
highlighting your artwork by using multiple colors to mix
and match. Again on this sample, I’ve used Sweet Leaf and
Olive, so the shirt just pops that much more.
Let me show you with the marker itself, that you have a
fine tip as well as a brush tip and this allows you to have
flexibility when coloring in your different projects. Your
barrel may be black or it may be grey, it doesn’t change the
product at all, it’s just a difference in the color barrels. So,
when using these markers, it’s important to just use nice
small strokes and then line those lines up so you don’t get
lines. They blend nicely together and you can see that
those lines just disappear into one another and you have
just beautiful coverage. The slower you go, the better the
ink flows and then if I want to go back and add a second
layer, you can just go right back over your first and it
intensifies that color as you go. And again to get that third
layer that we showed you on the sample, you just go right
back over again. And you can see that the color is just
intensifying by each layer.
Here’s another sample of the paper doll clothes that you
can see using the difference of the fine tip and the brush
tip. On the hat, I used the brush tip because it was a solid
large surface to color in. And then on these small flowers I
used the fine tip. It’s important when using that fine tip
that you use short and soft taps to your paper because the
longer you leave the marker to the paper, the more bleed
through you’ll get.
On this sample here, I’ve used Crème Brulee ink as well as
Juniper ink. It doesn’t matter which colors you’re using,
it’s always important when you’re going back and forth from
marker to marker that you cap your marker after each use.
Because they are alcohol based markers they dry up
quickly and it’s important to keep the caps on them
between usage to preserve the life of the marker itself.
See how easy it is to shade, blend and layer with alcohol-
based markers? And because they’re available in all of our
exclusive colors there’s no limit to the colorful projects you
can create. If you’d like to use our alcohol-based markers
