Hello
I have received this little box
with Micro Regulator OD-1R stove made by Soto
Elegant little box
Stove has won some prizes
and prizes' emblems are present at left top corner
It is very interesting construction
For a long time it was the lightest stove on the market
Titanium construction and weight - impressive 73 grams
Now we have new lighter stoves
However this one is still the lightest stove with built-in piezo
Here we have short specification
Dimensions, weight - 73 grams
Burns 1.5 hours with 8 oz.(250g) canister
Output: 2800 kcal/h (3260w or 11000 BTU)
and 'Made in Japan'!
So we have Japanese construction, Japanese manufacturing
I hope it will work well
Here we have short comparison
Technical innovation used in this stove
allow to boil 1L of water in -5'C degree in 4:16 minutes
For sure I will try to verify this information
But now we have June and I would have problem with winter conditions
If it was true, it would be really impresive result
It is well known that in minus temperatures gas preasure in carnister
is very low and cooking on propane-butane stoves is very hard in this conditions.
Lets open the box
Three compartments
In the first compartment we have foil bag with nylon bag
We have Soto logo, bag is made of thick and stiff fabric
and welt
In the second compartment we have the most important item
The stove!
The construction is quite compact
and light weight is very impressive
assembling is not very intuitive at the beginning
but after few seconds it is not problem at all
As you see after assembling it is not wide
It is dedicated for single or two persons hiking/mountaineering
definitely not for cooking in 5 liters pot.
It would be good for 1 or 2 liter pot.
Another interesting feature of this burner
is integrated piezo
It differs from others stoves
as only small part is visible
other components are hidden
protected against mechanical damage
Soto assures that this construction is damage-proof
After few months we would be able to verify this information.
Piezo works smoothly
It produces nice sparks however in bright light it is not visible
It produces nice sparks however in bright light it is not visible
This protruding button would be only vulnerable part
If it would be pushed too hard it could be broken
However in normal usage probably it will work for years.
Manual is the last thing in the box.
Manual and Warranty card.
Manual as every for US market starts from long list
what not to do...
Other description is quite typical
However there is one difference between this one and other stoves
To turn on other stoves you just need to turn the ***.
Here it is not enough
You can turn it one time or one and half
and according to manual gas supply would be not started
You need turn *** twice to open gas flow.
Probably it is due to safety reasons.
It protects user from accidental gas flow during assembling
So accrding to manual you need turn *** over 1.5 times
to start gas supply and next ignite the flame
Our short review comes to the end.
Stove is very nice
And probably it will work well
about remarks, if any, I will tell you later.
Thank you for your attention! Good bye!
