The new album is called Pedestrian Verse. I guess the title refers to some of the songs
say for instance Active Man, and State Hospital, and Backyard Skulls, deal with things out
with my own life, traditionally written albums are my own and they have been quite inward
looking and I think this album looks at slightly more at a wider section of society and their
so those three songs in particular are more in story telling than me writing about personal
experience like I've done in the past. It's strange to be in album four and feel like
something completely new is happening. I guess I'm trying to tell myself lyrically and get
that comfort going which writing about my flaws and fables and things that have gone
wrong, I think also a massive influence on this was the producing? With the Abrahams
who brought a wonderfully solid filter and really tied the record together at the end
of the process. The name Frightened Rabbit came from a nickname I was younger because
I was very socially awkward. And I would get taken to parties and I would sit in a corner
with a terrified look on my face because I was terrified. And it still happens to this
day in a sense I'm better at it because I have to be. I started performing solo as frightened
rabbit that's how it began in 2003 and then slowly almost member per year we grew into
what we are now. I don't know exactly where we sit in genre I don't think we do anything
particularly experimental I think its rock music essentially starts with the roots of
it perhaps start with folk music. Um but that is very a strong tradition in Scotland and
I that, that sort of permeates through music. But, yeah I think its just it just honest
and I think we are doing it for the right reasons. Well the tour is ongoing, never ending,
really long and I think that is the way it should be. Fans should expect half old, half
new, tons of sweat, that doesn't, that seems, can't help that. And I think yeah just like
an energy and I feel the band should be the people in the room having the most fun otherwise
what's the point?
