Customer: This is good. Are these all for book clubs?
Librarian: Yes they are. These are titles that are recommended by our librarians and
they are award winners and Popular Reads.
C: How do I get more copies of this for my club? There is about 10 people in it.
L: Why don't you come with me and I'll tell you about our Book Club Set To Go Collection.
We have what you call a Book Club Set To Go Collection. There are multiple copies of a
single title. For instance, if you want to request The Bishop's Man, just make a reservation
for that title. There are 10 copies.
C: Oh, that's great. How do I do that? Is it online?
L: Yes it is. Why don't you follow me and I'll show you how it's done. First of all,
what you need to do is go to our website. And that's www.torontopubliclibrary.ca, okay?
Once you're at our website just hover over books, videos, research and more. Slide down
to book clubs, then select the book clubs sets. Select book club sets titles A to K.
For instance the example that I gave you earlier, The Bishop's Man. If you don't see the title
on screen itself, scroll down until you see the Bishop's Man. As you can see, The Bishop's
Man is located at two branches, S. Walter Stewart and Richview. In order to request
this book club set, you will need to contact one of the branches.
C: Oh. How do I do that? Do I just click on one of the names of the libraries?
L: Yes. Call the branch and ask if the book club set is available. Sometimes, the set
is not available for the time period that you want. So it's a good idea to have a back
up title.
C: So what if the book isn't available?
L: You can make a reservation for the title.
C: And how long can we borrow it for?
L: You can have the set for six weeks.
C: Oh. Can we renew it?
L: Unfortunately, the book club set is not renewable.
C: And do I borrow all 10 books on my library card?
L: Yes. Since you requested the set you will be responsible for check-out and return.
C: Oh. What if one of our club members loses her copy?
L: Since the set is borrowed from your card you will be responsible for the cost of the
lost book.
C: And what if one of them is late bringing her copy back?
L: You will also be responsible for the fines that are accumulated.
C: Okay. Is there anything else I should know?
L: Yes. Here's a flyer listing all the titles that are available as a Book Club Set To Go
and the branches that owns the set. At the front of the flyer is the list of the branches,
as well as their phone numbers. At the back of the flyer is an overview of the Book Club
Set To Go Collection, as well as how to return and borrow a set. The flyer also lists all
the titles that are new for this year and, just for your information, if you have book
club members that are interested in e-books, most of our titles are available as an e-book.
C: This is great. Can you email this so I can share it with my group?
L: Sure. Just give me your email address.
C: Thank you so much. This is very helpful.
L: You're very welcome. It was my pleasure. Have a great day.
