Please find this product at http://absupply.net/ This video is to bring you a closer look at
the Pemko 185AT Mill Finish Aluminum Commercial Latching Panic Saddle Threshold. This is what
the profile of it looks like. That is a profile view is what I'm trying to say. Really nice
little threshold here and little in terms of the width, its compact, its elegant, it
does the job very well and we will talk about that now what its job is. Lets dissect this
part number. "185" is the profile of the threshold. "A" means that it is in the milled aluminum
finish and the "T" means that it is a thermo gasket, their black thermo seal which is a
very durable sort of lasting seal that the door seats up against. Latching panic, lets
do saddle. Saddle means that if you use your imagination, it kind of looks like a saddle.
Latching panic specifically means that the feature to the backside of the threshold as
seen here is something that you could use in applications where you have a double door
with surface vertical rod exit device or devices installed. Meaning that the strike that would
come with your exit device. So back to discussing this latch track system. If you've got those
exit devices, the vertical rod exit devices, you could eliminate the bottom strike and
use this profile of the Pemko 185AT to act as the strike. That is nice because you are
able to ditch that and then give yourself the ability to seal off the bottom of the
door as well. You are not only able to give a fantastic seal with the door actually bumping
up against this but also accomplishing the securing of the bottom latch. Now for a 3'
door, this is a 3' threshold you are probably not going to use it for that. You wouldn't
really have a surface vertical rod on a single door, assuming that this is obviously single.
However, the profile of this threshold and there is an image below this video showing
everything important dimensionally about it. It is the common one, it is the correct one
in terms of the height when you are using it with typical hollow metal doors, it would
have a 3/4" undercut. It is perfect for this application. The only thing that makes it
a little bit difference is the 3-5/8" width. So 3-5/8" width. Overall height of 1" and
over here you are going to be at 5/8", so that makes sense because you have a 3/4" undercut
on the door. So your door is going to sit there and make a really nice mating to the
black thermoseal that they have here. Again this is a 3' piece. If you have need for a
custom length, and I really like this threshold a lot from Pemko because it is a thicker extrusion,
it is definitely something that would be considered commercial versus a residential sort of threshold
and it's nice. It is not handicap compliant but generally fire escape doors that have
vertical rod or doors that are going to be significantly weather stripped, well all doors
should be obviously, but you are going to have lots of applications in the space. Lets
say a very large boxed store. All the back doors on the back, the doors on the rear of
a boxed store or building need to be emergency exit but they don't have to be handicap compliant.
If you have need for a custom length, by all means order the next longest piece or pieces
and indicate in the comments field what length you would like for us to cut the material
back to. The reasoning is if you had to take this 3' piece and cut it down to say 32",
you would eliminate this counter sink and the next one is all the way over here in the
middle. You would be stuck drilling another counter sink and then your centers are not
correct. So if you order a custom length, we are not only going to cut it to length,
but locate that hole the proper distance from the edge but the proper center to center as
well. Screws are included. These appear to be a #10 x 1-1/2" flat head wood screws. Pemko,
a full line manufacturer of all things commercial weather stripping related. If you have any
questions on the 185AT threshold or any other Pemko product, please feel free to reach out
