As a complementary therapy, Biomag low-frequency pulsed magnetic
therapy can be used for a broad range of serious problems
in the gastrointestinal tract, such as heartburn, chronic
ulcer disease of the stomach, duodenum and Crohn's disease.
Heartburn or pyrosis is caused by acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Acidic gastric contents leak back into the lower part of the
oesophagus and irritate the mucous membranes; if irritation
of the oesophageal mucosa by stomach acids persists for a
long time, serious damage, even malignancy, may occur.
The advantages of Biomag low-frequency pulsed magnetic
therapy are: reduction in spastic pain, spasmolytic
effects, efficient prevention of damage to the
oesophageal mucosa and its accelerated regeneration.
In Crohn's disease, magnetic therapy can be used during the
remission stage – outside of acute exacerbation of the disease
Crohn's disease is an inflammatory disease affecting different parts of the
gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the ***, and it tends to recur.
Trigger causes may be: trauma, infection, allergy, immune reactions, hormone
disorder, neurogenous and psychogenous factors, and genetic factors.
The positive anti-inflammatory, immuno-stimulating effects of low-frequency
pulsed magnetic therapy and stimulation of the healing process can be applied.
Chronic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum is characterised by the occurrence of one
or multiple ulcers in the gastric or duodenum wall and repeat relapses over many years.
The main etiologic agents are Helicobacter pylori
infection, excessive consumption of non-steroid
anti-inflammatory drugs, and an imbalance between
protective and aggressive factors affecting the mucosa.
Treatment is complex – elimination of the infection and pharmacotherapy
to minimise the aggressive factors and support the protective factors.
Protective factors include good regeneration of the mucosa; aggressive
factors include ischemia of the gastrointestinal tract wall.
Biomag low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy and its effects significantly
improve the protective factors - vasodilatation, anti-inflammatory effects,
mucosa nutrition and time needed for healing - thus eliminating risky ischemia
of the gastrointestinal tract wall. Not to be applied to bleeding ulcers.
