It's really important to make sure that providers
have as much support as possible
to make sure that their transition from paper records
to EHR happens very seamlessly
and so that it doesn't interfere with
their care of their patients or to their patients.
The role of the R.E.C. practice coordinator
is to act as the physicians' trust advocate
in guiding them through the selection,
implementation, and meaningful use
of their EHR
Those practices worked very closely
with each one of our practice coordinators
so that they could upgrade to their certified EHR system,
make sure that all the components
and all of the measures for meaningful use
were achieved and met, and they did perform
60-day gap analyses to make sure that
the practices were ready
for their 90-day out of station period
and held their hand monitoring all of those measures
to make sure that they've achieved those.
Tonight's MUVer event was very exciting for all of us,
not only for the providers that attested
and reached meaningful use,
but for our practice coordinators
to help them celebrate their success.
It was wonderful to have all of the state
and national dignitaries attend with us
And recognize how quality improvement is happening
one practice at a time,
one physician at a time in achieving meaningful use.
What that means to the providers is,
there's a statewide health information exchange,
and all of the results from all of the area hospitals
and laboratories -- x-rays, radiology, pathology --
all of the results that typically would have
been received via fax or a hard copy through
the postal system are now flowing seamlessly
into the practice's EHR system,
so that the physicians have real-time access
to patient results.
They can provide real-time care to those patients
receiving those results in that timely manner.
So the DHIN is our statewide HIE system,
and with certified technology and in combination --
in conjunction with the DHIN, those providers
are able to provide the best care to their patients
without transfer of paper, digitally.
The results go right into the EHR system
to provide the feedback that the patient requires for care.
It really is about providing the best possible patient care
to all of the patients that require it
and need it and want it
and making sure that all of these pieces come together.
It is very passionate work that we're doing,
and it's exciting, too,
so we're just thrilled that they were all celebrated.
