Hi there! My name is Chris Musick. I'm from Otterbein University,
which is located in Columbus, Ohio,
and I bid you greetings.
I'd like to talk to you a little bit today about liberal arts institutions and the power of liberal arts institutions.
Liberal Arts is where
you not only study your academic discipline but you're also studying other things
unrelated to your academic discipline.
It allows you to bring in
concepts
completely unrelated to what you studied
and apply those
to what you study
and in many cases
breakthroughs in
technology and engineering, and new ways of thinking
result from those interactions between unrelated events.
Otterbein University was founded in 1847.
We were the first university
in the United States to have men and women in the same classroom together.
We continue with that tradition of encouraging people to reach out and interact and
engage the local community. I would welcome you to our campus. We have
a wonderful English as a Second Language program. We have a new
program called the Otterbein Semester which allows you to study in the United States for one-third the price. My tip for you . . .
Liberal arts institutions
have scholarships. Public institutions
may not have scholarships.
Look at the scholarship opportunities for you at the liberal arts
college.
You could probably find out more information about that at your nearest
EducationUSA advising center.
