OK. So, we've thrown our set of mugs here and I'd like to talk quickly about some drying
tips. As you can see here I have a shelf that I put these onto. Now, this is a drying rack
and what we have are these little poles that fit into these grooves. Depending on what
we want to dry we can move these up or down and this is handy. Right now I'm just using
a drying rack, because this is Eugene Oregon in the winter time and it's very damp in the
air right now. So, we don't need to worry about these things drying out too quickly.
In different climates you might have a drying cabinet that is closed in on the sides with
a door that will shut and make it air tight inside. You can put all your ceramics in there
and let it dry out at a nice even; at a nice even rate. Now, these parts here, as you can
see, this mug. Let's see how dry it is. There we go. You see when we; it pops right off.
Now, during the drying process you might want to check them periodically and see if the
tops are too dry for the base. You want it to dry out nice and evenly. If the top is
drying out too much you might want to drape a piece of plastic across the top. Simply
take a piece of plastic and drape them over top like that leaving it loose. This will
allow the tops to stay moist while the bottoms dry out. You might also want to flip the pot
over like this, so that it starts to dry from up here down. So, those are some drying tips for mugs and
some good ideas on where to store your pots while they're drying. The next thing we're
going to do is trim these, because we can see they're now ready. They're popping off
at the base. We're going to do that back at the wheel next.
