Hello, my name is Gary Thomas
and I'm the low vision tester
for the Digital Accessibility Centre.
Today we're doing Access iQ website
and we'll just take you through a few problems
which we've encountered.
Particularly the areas with this
pink on this background here
we've tested and analysed the colours
with this particular section.
So, if I just get the Colour Analyser up
grab the text colour with the background colour
and it gives us a contrast ratio of 3.8:1
which doesn't quite meet the AA requirements
under the WCAG 2.0 guidelines
therefore a lighter background colour
with this text colour would probably be a better suit.
There are other issues with the page
especially when it comes to text resizing.
You can resize the text via the browser settings.
So if I click that on, put it through largest
and immediately they can see there's a few issues
with some of the words not being fully displayed.
The search here, again not fully displayed
across this section here
which is not entirely displayed within its box.
Obviously because these are probably fixed widths
or fixed size or fixed backgrounds
the enlarged text isn't able to be resized properly.
Another issue here with the carousel.
When the carousel actually changes
the text isn't actually displayed.
Again, that needs revision.
Link highlighting is fine
there are some improvements that could be made
especially in this area here.
There is a slight colour change on mouseover.
Now as a vision impaired user, I can't see that
I only knew about that when it was actually pointed out with vision assistance
so that type of navigation there
I would perhaps prefer something like an underlining on mouseover
or background highlighting, or a more defined colour change.
With the other links, the underlining is removed
which is a good practice because it's giving me
an additional cue when the underlining is being removed
so there's a slight change in its appearance which gives me that cue.
