So, how did acupuncture, actually begin? Hi, my name is Mark Brinson, Doctor of Oriental
Medicine, Physical Medicine Specialist, and International Seminar Provider. Acupuncture
is old, very, very old. It used to be thought that it went back about twenty five hundred
years, to maybe three thousand years. They originally thought it was that old, because
they were finding under giant tortoise shells, the complete diagrams of all of the acupuncture
charts, exactly as they are today. All the points in place, all the different channels
in place. Then, there were some studies that showed it might go a little bit further back,
and finally several years ago, there was an Iceman that was found in Eastern Europe, that
had points tattooed all over this body, so that he could have a home treatment. His body
was shown to be over fifty five hundred years old. Now, think about that. That means that
he had to travel far enough away, to get acupuncture from somebody from Asia, and come back, so
that he could do home treatments, on these particular spots, so that's not only showing
that there probably was a lot more trade during that time, along the spice routes, or trade
routes, from Asia to Europe, but also that acupuncture is based in very, very ancient
times. It's not actually known where it started, or how it began. We're still trying to figure
that out. We do know Asia is the origin of it, but not the specifics, so my name is Mark
Brinson, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, hoping that you have a balanced and insightful day.
