Far to the north of New York city
lies a vast region of untamed wilderness known
as the Adirondacks.
In the midst of the six million acre state park,
forty six mountains rise over four thousand feet in elevation.
Those who successfully summit these forty-six "High Peaks" are nationally known
as the "forty-sixers."
