my name is Trish Carter
and have a business that preserves memories
It's called Always n' Forever
and
I preserve flowers
and mount memorabilia
in s shadow box or
I've got the
domes, the framed dome,
but tabletop display
units as well. You get them back and you can keep them for a long, long time - decades.
They'll last for decades. Since I was eighteen I've been in the florist industry
and that you know worked my way up
managing business, florist shops
and then I was an owner for eight years
I got on to the
Self Employment Program. You have to be on EI in order to get it. The government
wants to know that
you're going to open a legit business
and that you're willing to put in the time and that you know what you're doing
but the grant is very critical for me
because otherwise I would have to
be working full-time
and trying to start a business at the same time
it's a flow of money
you know, that I can count on
every month
plus what I'm making with my business
and it also gives you the opportunity to
have all of of your write offs as if you were
running a business without any grant or any loan. We all have an idea of what we want to do
but to see it on paper
and to be able to get all the information that you need
and to put it on paper and to actually see it
it gives you a really good idea of what
you have to put into it, how much money
how much time and effort. I think it's really important that there's programs like
this because the
small business it make s
the world go around
