My name is Jose Ochoa of the Ochoa nation. I am called Domingo Paes.
For us, for the Ochoa, the first thing is that the Earth is our mother. It gives us life to all
All of us who live depend on nature.
The forest has the same rights as humans.
Why? Because for us in the forest there is a lot of hidden wisdom.
It is our market. It is our life.
Because all of those lives are equal to ours. These lives have spirits. It is like being
For us, all that is in the forest has the same rights as we humans.
On the Planet Earth, to be humans cause more damage than other beings. We are the human.
For us, all life in the forest has the same rights as we humans.
On Mother Earth, it's humans who cause more damage than the other beings. It's human beings violating the rights of Mother Earth.
Humans must respect the forest and all beings because here in this ecosystem, we are all connected.
For the Achuar, in the forest we have our power.
Our ancestors were custodians of the rainforest.
They planned for everything that exists on the planet -This will be for animals; this will be for anaconda.
Through our ancestors we receive and give positive energy for all the power we have.
In this sense we fight to defend ourselves and our relationship with Mother Earth.
The forest is not just for the Achuar, it is for all beings, for all humanity, for all of the countries that exist on Mother Earth.
My message is that ambitious individuals who are investing a mountain of money to exploit the resources of Mother Earth are undermining what it means to be human.
And the spending goes on for war, for guns, for no telling what.
My appeal is for these individuals to rethink, to re-create in their mind what it means to be human and respect the connection among us all.
We are in service to each other to all life.
All of us are passengers on the same boat. No one lives forever.
The only absolute truth is that all of us are going to die.
Therefore, we have to do positive work for the next generations.
The next generations have to respect the rights of mother earth, with all beings of the natural world, and with all the grace with which we are living.
My recommendation for action is we focus on changing the attitudes and awareness of those individuals amassing great fortuness at the cost of the Amazon and
supporting the scientists working with alternative energy resources .
We are supportive of bringing alternative energy technologies that are complimentary to our way of life.
And take advantage of nature's gift, and afford us sustainable development.”
For the scientists, for the youth, for the children, we have to work toward training and understanding among all of us humans and look for ways to defend the forest.
All of humans have to fight because all of us older ones have enjoyed the abundance of Mother Earth
but those that are coming will have a drastically different world.
Which is not their fault, but of those who came before them.
It is going to be the youth who suffer that's is why young people must reclaim their rights before humanity.
Children, women, indigenous, not indigenous, all who exist on Mother Earth have to look at how
to preserve and protect
the remaining forest
because to recover a forest is extremely difficult.
Therefore, my invitation to all of us together is to unite and decide how to conserve the remaining forest,
Starting with applying existing laws in all the affected states of different countries.
And In whatever form these protective laws now exist to defend the forest.
Our natural resources are not being defended nor existing laws enforced very well at all.
They use the law to extract natural resources, both renewable and nonrenewable.
The youth must work to defend Mother Earth because, together, with all we know and our methods it is possible to maintain and protect Mother Earth.
Nothing can stop the development of humanity,
but we can stop individuals from massively destroying the forest.
The Achuar people already know how to appreciate the forest and manage it adequately
And this is what I am asking for.
Therefore, women, men, adults, children━we must all unite to defend the rights of the forest, Mother Earth, and of humanity.
All of the world must know that this forest land which spans many countries is where the indigenous peoples live.
And it is worthwhile for the people of all countries to give aid to preserve this forest.
While many governments and business people say, “No, the indigenous are an obstacle for the world development,”
No, this is false. We must stand up for the rights of Mother Earth.
Well, that is why we must unite all the people who exist on Mother Earth to stand up for her rights.
Thank you very much.

Good. I want to appeal to the children, young people, professionals, nonprofessionals, men, women,
that everyone continue looking for development, but thinking about how to conserve the forest and the nature that we have in each country.
And the big businessmen, big businesses invest in the exploitation or development of the country also must look at how to conserve the forest that exists.
Because for us the forest, the subsoil, the nonrenewable resources, especially the petroleum is sacred, is for human life.
And many people only think of themselves.
I want to live well and I want it only for myself.
No, we think of the others.
We have to live well because the only absolute truth is that death comes to everyone.
