All of the HeritageQuest Online collections, with the exception of the PERSI collection, contain images.
There are five tools available when viewing images in HeritageQuest Online:
Print, Download, Positive or Negative Image View, and Zoom.
First we will discuss Print.
Click the "Print" button to view the image in a new window.
Help for printing using various Adobe Acrobat Readers is at the top of the window.
To send this image and identifying criteria to your printer, right click your mouse and select the Print option.
Now to discuss the Download option...
There are three options in the "Download" page: Download a PDF or TIFF image, or View in the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
We will select "View."
This action opens the image in a new window and provides access to all the Adobe Acrobat tools, such as:
Print, Save to Disk, Zoom In/Out, and Cropping, just to name a few.
To Crop an image, first enable the Cropping tool in your version of Adobe Acrobat.
Then use the crosshatch cursor to highlight the section of the page you wish to copy.
Finally, right click the mouse, click "Copy Image" and paste this into a document of your choice.
Note that you can also right click to highlight and copy the entire page.
Adjustments to the image can be made for easier viewing.
The "Positive" view displays a white background with black writing.
The "Negative" view displays a black background with white writing, otherwise known as a microfilm view.
This view can ease eye strain, help pick up faint pen strokes, and help those with visual impairments more easily read the page.
The Zoom tool allows for 100, 200, or 400% zooming.
This allows you to see the entire page at 100% as well as finite details at 400%.
Thank you for reviewing the HeritageQuest Online Image Viewer Tools.
