Welcome To G-TV! Today I will be showing you IDEC's HE2G Series Enabling Switches. These
grip style enabling switches for robot cells are commonly referred to as deadman switches.
They have a 3 position functionality of off-on-off. When the device is not pressed, the enabling
switch is off. When a little exertion is applied, the switch changes states and enables the
application. When more exertion is applied the switch is then turned to the off position.
This is useful when working in possible hazardous conditions, where the operator could become
incapacitated. An example of this is an electrical charge that could either cause the operator
to drop the switch or clench tightly, which will both result in the application switching
to the off position. The HE2G, is a compact version of the HE1G with the additional control
units available as an option. Both models can accommodate an optional momentary pushbutton
and an Estop. The HE2G can also include an extra momentary pushbutton or a key switch.
The enabling switch meets ANSI RIA 15.06 robotics standards and provides a protection rating
of IP 66 when accompanied with a control unit. IDEC's HE2G Series Enabling Switches along
with thousands of other products and services are available at Galco.com.
