Should I learn 2D or 3D animation?
2D animation is still a staple of television, regardless of how much they try to hype 3D
TV.
Because no one wants to wear those ugly goggles while trying to watch the game.
3D animation is mostly used in some movies, a lot of games and some educational settings.
I can imagine most guys would love 3D sex ed.
While it would be terrifying to see Michael Moore in 3D.
Which one do you think has a better future?
2D is overwhelmingly used in ads either on TV or the PC. But until they have a smart
phone with 3D holographics, there is a huge demand for 2D animation.
Games make as much money or more than movies. There are 3D animations in games like Call
of Duty, and that grossed about a billion dollars because of it.
If you want to develop games, you need to learn 3D animation. Unless you’re going
to be making educational flash games for the iPad.
I’ve seen 3D art.
And it is usually rendered on a flat computer screen. You should learn 2D animation whether
you want to make cartoons, advertisements or such.
There are business applications for 3D animation.
True. Teaching people how to assemble a product or demonstrating how a new machine will operate
is done in 3D.
Where does Google glass fall? I can imagine a big future with immersive reality video.
Are you talking about gamification of the jogger’s path, as they jump over imaginary
hurdles in the game they see in Google glass? Or spam ads that would pop up as the person
is reading food labels?
I heard we’d have instructions on how to assemble Ikea furniture, right as we open
the box, or doctors could get advice from someone looking through their eyes.
I don’t want the doctor getting distracted by pop-ups for life insurance or ambulance
chasing attorneys while he’s trying to do a coronary bypass. And since Google glass
is still a long way from anything other than a walking webcam, don’t worry about animating
anything for it.
