Alright, we just talked about the obvious experts, and something you might want to think
about when you're trying to pick out an obvious expert -think in terms of professional. Has
this person studied in school? Have they earned degrees in this particular field? Do they
get paid for doing what they are an expert at? But that's not the only experts out there,
those are just the obvious ones. I bet you never thought about these. What about the
4th grader who wins the spelling bee? She's an expert at spelling. She's an expert at
winning a spelling bee, so you might interview her. Or, what about a homeless person who's
been homeless for years, living under the bridge, eating food out of a trashcan. Maybe
the paper or the article that you're writing has to do with homeless. Well, he's an expert.
What about someone, the teenager, standing on the street corner who witnessed the car
crash? He's an expert witness. Now does he get paid for that? Did he go to college for
that? No, but he is still potential interviewee material, depending on what your subject is,
what your topic is, what it is that you need to do an interview for, and that's experts.
