Hi everyone, Melissa here. Welcome back to CloudMom.com. Answering a question from a
YouTube viewer, pure joy and laughter, she's had a baby who is six months old, interested
in having another baby but feels as if she hasn't healed enough. She's asking, "Is it
too soon to get pregnant?" Well, great question and honestly you're asking the right person,
because I've been there. I had my second baby only thirteen and a half months after my first.
And I got pregnant when my first child was only five months old. So, I did go through
this. This is number one, definitely something you need to go over with, with your doctor.
Usually six weeks postpartum is when you will visit with your doctor. You'll have a thorough
exam, and in the normal course of things you will be cleared for exercise and for sex.
Your partner's like, "Yeah!" Most of the moms are like, "Ugh!" But, I'm just kidding. But,
um, because we still feel like, "Ugh, I just had a baby!" But anyway, that aside, it's
a lot about how you feel. Do you feel strong? Do you feel exhausted? Do you feel drained?
Have you gotten your period back? Are you nursing? Are you not? Those are a lot of things
that moms sort of factor into this calculation, and I will add that having babies so close
in age is not the easiest thing to do. It has it's advantages, and I've talked about
this in a few videos, because you can do things like coordinate naps. However, it really,
really is a lot to have two babies, you know, two and a half and under and in diapers. I,
I thought it was a lot. So you want to think about all of those things. But in terms of
the purely physical thing, yes, I think you can, given that your doctor agrees, safely
get pregnant again. You want to make sure he's on board, and you want to make sure that
you're taking really good care of yourself in terms of sleep, diet, your teeth, things
like that. Because having babies can really run you down and drain your system, especially
if you're nursing. So you really want to stay on top of all of those things. So anyway,
oh and one more word of advice. Hmm. Some people think if you're nursing, that you can't,
can't get pregnant. Well, think again, totally not true. I got pregnant several times while
nursing, and while not even having had my period back. So, you can ovulate when you're
not getting your period and when you're still nursing. And you can get pregnant. So keep
that in mind mammas, because that might not be the kind of birth control you need, um
and, you could end up with another baby on your hands sooner than you think, if you're
not sort of planning not to have that baby. Okay, so anyway, that's it from me. Other
moms who've had babies close in age got pregnant when they already had, still had a young baby,
please comment on on what you're experience was like. Did you feel ready for that? Were
you healthy? Did you feel strong? Was your doctor on board or did he advise you to wait?
Some doctors do. Would love to hear what you've been through. Thank you so much for watching
CloudMom, and I will see you guys next time.
