A woman wearing Niqab rode with me from Shoubra
She rode in the backseat and she had a bag
As soon as we got onto the October bridge
she started looking left and right and all of a sudden she took off her face veil
I looked in the mirror - I have a small mirror under the main mirror so I can see what's happening in the back
As the saying goes: Take care but don't assume the worse
Anyway, I saw she was veiled, so I found it strange but I said nothing
After a while she started taking off her veil
After she took it off I saw she had rollers in her hair
She kept taking off the rollers and putting them in her bag
After a while I looked at the mirror and suddenly she shouted at me and said:
Eyes on the road!
What are you doing in the car miss?
What's it to you? Keep your eyes on the road and shut up.
Between you and me, I thought of pulling over and throwing her on the street
But I thought that she's a woman and the night is not safe
and honestly I wanted to see what else she would take off
The way the play is directed with no stage, and the actors moving around is very similar to the book's spirit
Therefore, I feel the theatrical adaptation has the book's spirit
Of course, the world of the characters is very different to the world that was in my mind
However, I came ready that the world of the characters would reflect the directors' vision
And I saw that the adaptation - even though it was different to what I had in mind - was very nice
The idea of breaking the stage and the constant movement of the actors
and the relationships between the stories was done in a very beautiful manner
For example, the idea that the sheikh who is talking against women, its his daughter to takes off her niqab in the taxi
The idea of the stories intertwining is done in a very beautiful way
What respectable father allows his daughter to go out dressed like this?
It's as if he's telling her: Go, go, go so someone will have unlawful sex with you!
What is this randomness you are saying?
Hey mister, don't say that! Are you not a Muslim or what?
This sheikh is educated and enlightened. These women are the worst thing god gave us.
Don't be fooled by the veil. Look at the tight clothing they wear.
What the hell are you saying you ignorant and backwards man?
What are you saying you ignorant woman?
You are the ignorant and backwards one
"Missing minds and religion" as they say!
