Hi Everybody. I'm Dr. David Reath and I'm here to talk about this week's Truth-O-Meter Tuesday question.
It had to do with breast implants and using breast implants instead of doing a breast lift.
Because this is something I talk to patients about a lot
And there seems to be some misconception about how things work on some people's part.
What we said was this that "Using a large breast implant
will not prevent the need for having a breast lift
if you need a breast lift. And the answer to this is true.
Some people think that if you just go with a really large implant it will fill up everything and you won't need a lift. But the problem with that is
what you end up with is a much larger breast that still sags.
So if you truly need a breast lift because you have sagging and looseness of skin that is the result of
lsing weight, pregnancies, things like this, you're going to need a lift.
There are however some women who don't have much sagging, just a little bit,
who sometime will be happy with just an implant
and a mature looking breast, but the implant doesn't necessarily "lift" the breast.
So the bottom line is this: If you need a lift, you need a lift.
If you're going to get away froma lift byu using a big implant, bigger than you should use,
Ultimately I don't think you're going to be happy and at some point you're going to need a lift later on.
So let's find out who this week's winner is.....
