Armchair Philosopher - Nihilism and Relativism.
I was talking to my girlfriend the other day and ran into the following idea. Since I am
merely an armchair or dictionary philosopher, I put the question to you formally trained
philosophers.
Is the relativist really a secret nihilist? If everything is relative, then content and
action have no meaning, right? If there is no meaning, then nothing matters, right? If
all is relative, then nothing exists. If nothing exists, thenů, right?
Without meaning, narrative is irrelevant. If that is so, then all is irrelevant. Hence,
a nihilist.
Or, is the relativist just rearticulating the notion of samara. Perhaps the relativist
is really an Augustinian critiquing the Kingdom of Man?
Now, I am most certainly getting lost in the Rabbit Hole.
Help, I have lost my girlfriend. Is she breaking up with me?
