The GOP is throwing a bash at the Republican National Convention in Florida to nominate
its candidate, but one Mama Grizzly might be left out of the picnic. John McCain’s
2008 running mate Sarah Palin says she hasn’t gotten an invite to the event and Florida’s
WJXT says she thinks it’s because she’s too Mavericky.
WJXT: “She suggested the reason she had yet to be invited was her willingness to criticize
her own party as well as the opposition for spending too much money.”
Newsweek broke the story of the former Alaska governor which has drawn the ire of Tea Partiers.
Jenny Beth Martin, head of the Tea Party Patriots, tells Newsweek:
Newsweek: “... it would be good for [Romney] to have someone like Palin speaking at the
convention. He needs to do something to rile up his base, to make them enthusiastic.”
Even Romney, appearing on the Late Show with Dave Letterman, seems to be entertaining the
idea of Palin playing his protector.
CBS: “She’s got energy; passion. By the way, you know, be careful what you say about
her...She has a rifle, you know?”
But Tea Party news site Conservative HQ says:
Conservative HQ: “...given her support for John McCain in 2008, relations between Governor
Palin and Governor Romney have always been a bit strained. Plus, Sarah Palin has yet
to give Mitt Romney her unqualified endorsement.”
Convention organizers released a statement reiterating they have not made any decisions
on program schedule or speakers yet.
