Hi I'm Dave from Wheeling Truck Center. I'm a technician here. Today we're going to show
you a little bit about tire wear. This is a tool that's used for checking tread depth.
Every driver should have one. It's a very inexpensive tool, but a must. How to use
this tool. You look here. You check the center tread on the tire. That one's pretty low. You're
looking at about 2/32. That technically, if that was a rear drive tire, would pass, but
it's pretty much at its limits. If you look here, we have a good tire, which is 21/32,
so that tire is in really good shape. Real simple tool to use.
Now when you're checking tire pressure, you want to start by looking, there's a sticker on most vehicles. If you
look up here there's tire size and air pressure rating. The OEM's mostly recommend what tire inflation
you should use, but if you don't have that option, on the side wall of the tire, it'll
indicate what the tire pressure should be. Tire pressure should always be checked when
the tire is cold, not when the tire comes off the road and the tires are hot. And also
checking overall condition of the tire for dry rot and tread depth and wear patterns is very critical.
I'm Dave from Wheeling Truck Center. Thanks for watching.
