When it comes to braiding, preparation is very important. Right now, we're getting ready
to wash the hair and make sure the scalp is ready to be pulled on and tugged by when I
get ready to oil the scalp and to braid the hair in different styles. What's very important
in shampooing and conditioning, is to make sure you get something that's clarifying or
extremely moisturizing. Considering that braids stay on the head for an extended period of
time. What we have right here is a very heavily moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. When
you shampoo the hair, depending on how long it's been since it's been washed. It may take
two or three, maybe even four washes and rinses before you can add the conditioner. When it
comes to putting the conditioner in, sometimes it's good to leave it in there, take a five
minute break and go back to rinsing later. Just to make sure that the hair is moisturized
and ready to stay in one position for an extended amount of time. Also, what's very good is
to use a clarifying shampoo, preferably with tea tree oil to make sure the scalp is stimulated
and that everything is off of there, all the chemicals you might have put on there, any
kind of oil, anything. It gets everything off, cleanses the scalp and just gets it ready
to accept the moisture very well.
