We're talking today about arm bars, how to apply them and how to apply them safely. Now,
we're going to take the arm bar technique that is applied from the outside of the body
switch it into the shoulder crank and it also end out with a throw to the ground. So again,
he throws a straight punch towards my head. I'd block it out of the way. I can then transition
into an arm bar. If that doesn't work then I can transition back into the shoulder crank
keeping my hands the same just twisting my body right back and applying it. Then just
for his safety, I'm not going to throw him with this arm bar. I'm just going to take
him and grab his hand, step behind, sweep him out to the ground. And that right there
is called an Osotogari. It's an outside reaping leg throw. You end just like we're going to
the outside of the body for the arm bar. You're going to the outside of the leg to sweep him
down to the ground. Also keep in mind that in order to sweep him effectively in Osotogari,
you also have to get his upper body off balance first. So when you're applying that shoulder
crank, you need to apply it so his body leans back so you can sweep out his leg. And that's
how to end out that technique with an Osotogari throw.
