Hi, I'm Tonya with Chainsaw Shed and today Were going to talk about
Determining the length of your chain For your chainsaw.
The length of your chainsaw isn't Determined in inches or centimeters but rather by
drive link count.
Simply put
chain Length
equals drive link count.
Most dealers of chainsaws
will ask you what your drive link count is. They simply want to know how many drive links
there are.
Which determines the length of your chain.
This is very important for replacing your chain.
If you are replacing a chain that does not match the one you are replacing
it can cause serious injury to you and your chainsaw.
If you will look you will see we have provided a chain to determine the drive links.
We have highlighted the drive links in yellow.
If you will mark the place were you have begun to counting
this will better avoid counting a drive link more than once.
You can mark the chain with chain with chalk Or whiteout. I like to use finger nail polish.
You will need to count each drive link.
If you will look back at the chain we have provided
You will see we have 88 drive links,
therefore the length of our chain is eighty-eight drive links.
If you are not familiar with drive links
please look at our video "What are chainsaw drive links?"
