So this is a ultraviolet light unit that I use to make alternative process prints with.
From cyanotypes to platinum palladiums, van *** browns. Anything that I need a UV light
source, other than well including the sun, to make prints with. This is what I have,
I bought this box. But it is essentially, you can make it with the right electric knowledge.
Basically these are sunlamps. What they're doing is they're putting out a controlled
amount of ultraviolet light. Between here I'm going to have my box down on the floor.
I'm able to have this open where I can slide my contact print frame or whatever I'm printing
from with. Pretty nice design, has a fan built into it to keep the bulbs cooled down. Because
these bulbs will get incredibly hot. Now I bought this box pre-made online. It was not
inexpensive, it was about eight hundred dollars. But I make money from the work I do with it,
so it paid for itself. But in reality, I've seen two other photographer colleagues make
one of these boxes, and understand basic wiring for about a hundred dollars, maybe two hundred
dollars. But it's a great thing to have when it's raining.
