Cockroaches figure among the fittest organisms in the planet.
With an astounding richness of colors and shapes,
they are capable of inhabiting a myriad of ecosystems.
Like other living organisms,
the cockroaches play a paramount role in the maintenance of life conditions on Earth,
from recycling organic remains into usable nutrients for plants,
while on their part serving as food for long list of predators.
One of them is the fierce army ant.
Army ants are carnivorous insects
capable of wiping out a horde of cockroaches,
taking their dismembered carcasses back to the rest of the colony.
Other predators are the fearsome scorpions.
Speaking of venoms,
also are the deadly banana armed spiders.
At any rate, these predators are not exactly the most desirable household solution.
Yet, the small and harmless ensign wasp Evania
attacks egg cases of cockroaches
by injecting their own eggs inside.
The hatching larva will rapidly consume all cockroach embryos inside,
and gradually mutate into a new adult wasp,
which will immediately begin its hunt for other egg cases,
as to complete its life cycle.
