So one of my favorite aspects of the home is the jewelry. When I say jewelry, I mean
literally the light fixtures. Because light fixtures for a home are like jewelry on a
woman, and so you can go really sleek and modern, or you can go really jeweled and sparkly.
I like a little bit sparkly, I'm not going to lie to you. But I would say that lighting
is really important, why? Because the different layers affect how you live.
So you have your basic task lighting and that makes sure you can do things like read magazines,
do your work, maybe cook. Those are lights that are specifically directed to the tasks
that you're doing and that can be achieved through table lamps, floor lamps, recess lighting.
Then you have your ambient lighting and that's lights, basically to make you feel good in
your space, to add general lighting throughout the space.
So lamps can also work towards that. You can also do floor lighting that kind of lights
the space up. And you can also do recess lighting, that's also affected by that, as well. So
you have your task. You have your ambient lighting. Your general lighting, which pretty
much crosses both a little bit. You just want to make sure that you don't have very big,
dark, black spots in your home, where you can't see where you're going, or also the
tasks that you're doing.
Other than that, have fun with it. Your light fixture can say a lot about your personality.
So if you love a really funky lamp in your bedroom, fantastic. Maybe that chandelier
that you love in the store would be really beautiful in your dining room and adds that
color and maybe that focus that you want. Just make sure that it's also functional.
Functionality comes first, beauty comes second.
