This tutorial will be a flower made out of five circles all of them will be the same
What are some creative ways you've been using crocheted flowers?
They will be sewn together
I'm using two colors of 4-ply yarn, a siz "I" 5.5mm crochet hook
I'm attaching the slip knot to the crochet hook.
Take the loose end, wrap it over the main strand, now you have a loop
Take your loop, wrap it over the main strand put your hook below the center strand
back up the opposite side. This creates the slip knot.
Work a chain 3.
1, 2, 3... now we're going to join with the beginning chain.
and I'm putting my hook through the first chain, wrap the yarn over
pull it through the first chain, through the chain on your hook and we've joined the chain in the ring
work a chain 1
That will not count as a stitch that's the step up.
I will be working right through the center working 12 double crochet

I'm working right through the center of the chain which is right around the chain

And, I did crochet right over my beginning tail
That saves a little bit of time later on when it comes time to sew in the tail
I'm going to join with the beginning stitch, putting my hook right below these 2 loops
wrap the yarn over pull it through, pull it through the loop on the hook and that joins
our 12 double crochet into a circle.
Working a chain one, this will not count as a stitch, it will be our step up to the next round.
You can work the traditional chain 3 if you would prefer to work a chain 3 as your begining double crochet.
I will be working 2 double crochet in each stitch around for a total of 24
Working the first 2 double crochet and they are in the same stitch
Working the next 2 I'm putting my hook right below the top of the stitch like that working
the double crochet by putting my hook in the same stitch in the same place.
You can look right here both stitches are in the top of the same stitch

I'm going to join with the beginning stitch
Putting my hook below the 2 loops wrapping the yarn over, pull through and
pull through the look on my hook wrapping over one more time.
I'm going to cut the yarn.
Pull it through, give it a tug
We will make 5 circles just like this.
Now I'm going to add an edging
you can use the reverse double crochet.
I am going to be demonstrating the chain.
I'm putting my hook right below the 2 loops at the top of the stitch, wrap the yarn over
pull it through, pull it through the loop on my hook.
The new color of yarn is now secure
Work a chain 3
slip stitch to the next stitch
chain 3
work a slip stitch. I'm putting my hook through the top of the stitch,
wrap the yarn over, pull through, pull through the loop on the hook
Chain 3
work a slip stitch in the next stitch
chain 3
work a slip stitch in the next stitch
chain 3
work a slip stitch in the next stitch
and this is what we have going on
you can experiment with a variety of edgings to make a different and unique flower
I'm going to continue working the chain 3, slip stitch in the next stitch until I've gone all the way
around
I'm working the last chain 3, slip stitch right here with the beginning stitch and it will be a little
ruffly and that's what we want. This is the effect we are looking for.
And you will want to put the edging on all five of your circles.
Now I'm going to sew in all the tails.
I'm weaving the needle right between the stitches.
I'm going over a loop back in the opposite direction
weaving between the chains
and the stitches
and then going back in the opposite direction after
looping over a loop.
then cut off the yarn
So, by now you're probably wondering how we're going to get a flower out of these
5 circles
This is where it gets fun.
I have cut off a long length of yarn
This is going to be the first petal,
I'm going to turn it so the backside is facing me and I'm going to flip it up like this
and then fold it around like this, kinda like a fortune cookie
now I have a flower petal
so what I'm going to do
is work a couple of stitches and make a secure knot
I don't want to pull my tail all the way through so I'm going to grab a hold of it like that
and then make a knot
looping my yarn through
so that does make it secure. I'm going to go ahead and make another knot
just to be on the safe side
Then we can sew that tail in later.
This creates the first petal.
All the petals will be done the same way
I'm going to flip this one around just like this
and then thread it through
and we will want to straighten them up as we go
now I'm going to work here on the bottom side and I'm going to make another knot
now we have two petals
I'm going to take the third petal, flip it up like this
then fold it around
and then run the yarn through like this
the same way
and then make a knot down here
I'm flipping the fourth petal
and adding it on
I'm making a knot
Taking the last circle
and turning it into a petal
just like this
And working a secure knot down here at the bottom
And so now we have something that's starting to look like a flower.
and what I like to do
since we only have this strand of yarn holding everything together
I'm going to run the yarn back through one or two more times
you can do it however many you want to
but this is just to make it a little bit more secure.
And then this will bring them closer together too.
Now I'm going to join these two petals together at the base.
Now I'm going to make one more knot
And I'm going to sew the yarn through one more time.
And this is going to help keep the petals in place as well.
Until you find a place to attach your flower to.
Then I can give it a little tug like this to pull them tighter together
If you find it's too tight, you can loosen them up a little bit
make your flowers stand out however you want to.
Now I'm going to go ahead and make the final knot
You can leave this yarn tail hanging or you can sew it in
or you may want to leave it on and use it to sew
to the project you are adding it to at a later time
that's up to you. You can always add more yarn. It usually blend
right in. I'm cutting off the tail.
And that completes the flower.
