Viewer friends, we are here at the interview room with iG, who have just won 2-0 over a relatively strong opponent, TongFu.
Let's first ask YYF, a 2-0 win, how do you feel?
It feels pretty good.
TongFu, prior to playing you guys, had lost 0-2 to VG, did you feel that due to their previous loss, they had trouble adjusting in time for this match?
I feel... maybe... For example, they pulled out 'special tactics' with the creep-blocking,
but our Dark Seer got an Invis rune and successfully diverted the entire creep-wave with Ion Shell, which left their tactic useless.
Alright. In the draft of the first game of the series, we saw that they used their 3rd and 4th picks successively to pick KotL and PL,
Faith, what did you feel were the keys in ultimately allowing your team to pressure them from start to end and thus not let these picks pay off?
They picked KotL and PL, with the strategy being to have the team protecting this duo and have room to farm,
so what I did was pick Nyx after seeing their pick, just to constantly focus on ganking and thus take away that space and leave them unable to farm.
In the second game, we saw your team pick Spirit Breaker, Clockwerk, and Razor.
We were all left guessing who would play which hero, and it ended up being 430 on a safe lane farming Spirit Breaker, with Hao on solo-mid Razor, while YYF played the offlane Clockwerk.
So let's ask Hao: what were the considerations in these choices and lanes? You ended up winning mid against a Troll.
Basically... Troll had no chance against Razor.
At first, we were thinking Clockwerk solo mid, but after some discussion we decided to have me on Razor mid, it might be better, and it did end up getting pretty good results.
Okay. Let's ask 430 now: You got to play a farming Spirit Breaker, and got a lot of kills early game.
Later on in the game, your Spirit Breaker was charging anyone that dared show on the map.
So the question is, have you played a lot of Spirit Breaker in pubs, gotten a lot of practice on the hero?
Uh... Haven't played the hero much before. None in training, and maybe once or twice in pubs.
Typically we would've had me playing Razor. But we ran out of time, the first wave of creeps was about to spawn...
So we ended up having Clockwerk and Spirit Breaker switch, have Clock offlane. Gold had already been spent, we didn't have much time, so we just went with it.
Facing a six-stacked creep wave that had been blocked by Earthshaker, Banana did you feel that you were lucky in getting that Invis rune?
Or would you have played the same anyway and gone for the creep wave disrupt with Ion Shell regardless?
I'd already decided, even without the Invis rune I would've Surged over and put the Ion Shell on the wave and aggro the wave over.
Did you feel that this tactic, since you guys had Dark Seer, was a low chance of success from the outset?
I feel that... not only Dark Seer, but there are quite a few heroes, with either abilities, or illusions, or ranged, that can succeed in pulling the creep wave away when it comes.
And they wouldn't be able to deal with that very easily.
Currently you guys stand with a 5-1 record so far, with the match against DK being the only loss.
You've got a solid hold on second place, widening the gap with 3rd and 4th.
YYF, can you speak to this, is the next thing for you guys to make the necessary further adjustments and go for a challenge on DK for the top spot?
Yes, that is for sure.
We will definitely go towards better results, and continue working, analyzing, and competing to the best of our ability.
Alright, congratulations to iG for their win in this match, and we hope iG can achieve even better results in future WPC matches.
This caps off the interview for today.
