Brian D. Lawenda, MD>>> Lymphedema is a condition that can happen at any time after your treatment
for breast cancer and it is something that we should be counseling our patients about
before we even begin treatment. It is a condition that it not curable, but it is a condition
that is treatable and it is controllable.
The most important thing is to diagnose it early, and there are many different ways to
diagnose lymphedema and you need to talk to your breast surgeon, a radiation oncologist,
or members of your cancer care team to find out from them exactly, you know, how they
do it in their community setting.
