Learn how to use your new AGT-2 AuRACLE gold tester to test gold with this video instruction
guide from Esslinger.com.
Esslinger.com is proud to introduce GemOro's newest innovation in electronic gold testing
technology and we want to make sure that you get the most out of the best performing hand-held
electronic gold tester on the market today.
Once you have purchased the AGT-2 model for your mobile device, you will need to check
that your device meets the system requirements. For Apple devices, you need Apple iOS 5.1
or higher and for Android devices, you need Honeycomb 3.1 or higher and USB host or USB
on-the-go support.
When you have verified the operating system of your mobile device, download the AGT-2
app and launch it.
Attach the AuRACLE components to the micro connection hub with their included cables.
Plug the testing plate into the jack labeled 'tray', plug the pen probe into the jack
labeled 'pen' and, plug your mobile device into the jack labeled 'device.' Be sure
to adjust your device volume to max.
Next, you need check your pen probe. Remove the cap from the pen and with a clean and
dry paper towel, dab any excess solution from the tip. The pen probe's tip should have
the consistency of a normal felt tip pen once you have cleaned away the excess solution.
To charge the pen probe, you will need a calibration piece of non-plated and non-flashed gold with
a known karat value of 10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, or 24k or platinum. Be sure that the pen probe
and the solution only touch the calibration metal.
File a small section from the calibration piece and place it on the testing plate with
the filed portion facing up.
On your mobile device, touch the calibrate icon on the screen and select the karat value
of the gold piece you are using to calibrate the tester.
Take your pen probe and carefully and firmly touch the tip of the probe to the filed portion
of the piece of gold. Hold the probe upright and in place at a ninety degree angle until
the reading settles -- this may take several seconds. Note that it does not matter what
reading the tester shows at this point because you are charging the pen probe.
When the reading stabilizes, the screen will display the Calibration Successful message
and the reading of the metal quality.
Press done and repeat this charging process two more times in calibration mode to ensure
that your pen probe will work accurately. After charging three times the display should
have a green light with "Device is ready" and you may begin testing your gold.
Ensure the pen probe is charged and reading gold accurately by switching to the test menu
and touching the pen tip to the piece of calibration gold again. The tester should show you the
correct karat content of the metal.
If the tester does not read accurately, clean the tip of the pen probe again and repeat
the calibration process. Once you have verified that the pen probe and tester have been calibrated,
you can begin testing metal.
To begin testing gold, you must first file a small area on the surface of the piece of
metal to be tested.
While in test mode; rest the item on the testing plate with the filed portion facing up. If
you need to hold it in place to keep it steady, make sure your fingers don't touch the testing
plate.
Again, be sure that that the probe is only touches the metal you are attempting to test
and not the test plate or any coating, plating, or flash. The reading will be displayed on
your mobile device.
Touch and hold the tip of the pen probe to the filed surface of the metal until the reading
settles.
Remove the pen probe tip from the metal quickly. If it sits on the metal for more than three
seconds after settling, the reading will no longer be accurate. Replace the probes cap
to keep it from drying out or being contaminated.
Touch the Save button on your screen to save the test result to your tester's history.
You can access the history by touching the history icon on the screen. Once there, you
can add notes to any test result by clicking on the test and typing on the keyboard.
Additionally, you can change the settings of your Android AGT-2 tester to either a Needle
style Meter or the Bar style Meter by clicking on the settings icon. On an Apple device,
you can select between an analog dial meter or a horizontal bar meter in the setting menu.
