Dineen Hall enhances everything about the College of Law. We bring with us a great tradition
and history, but now our space fits our mission.
Dineen Hall was built with the modern law student in mind. It's in a great part of the
Syracuse University campus, it's at the hub of the West Campus expansion, and it's right
near the law student housing opportunities. And we're really fortunate to have a modern,
state of the art building in place for our current students.
Dineen is a state of the art facility, where not only learning and legal scholarship is
advanced, but community development and community building prospers.
Our office provides cutting edge services for law students, and we have for quite some
time now. Dineen Hall provides the space that we need to continue to grow and improve upon
those services.
The new layout of Dineen Hall makes it easier for me to navigate the collection which, in
itself, allows me to better service the students and their needs.
We can offer more individualized reference assistance than we were able to do in our
old building.
In the library, we offer a lot of spaces. We have group study spaces, we have individual
carrols, we have tables where students can spread out and use the tables, we have couches...
The best place for a student to study is wherever they're most comfortable, and we have students
who like our quiet floor, or our silent areas, we have students who like a little bit more
activity...
It's pretty versatile.
We have an opportunity for numerous ways of connecting with students, both technologically,
but also in terms of our space, from large celebratory spaces to very intimate, one-on-one
spaces for students to make connections with faculty, other students, student organization
meetings...
It has increased technology abilities. We're very excited to be able to connect with alumni
both near and far, and offer students the increased opportunity to interact with them,
both on a personal level and perhaps during programming. So, we're very excited by the
technology and how it can open many doors and cater to all of the variety of different
areas and geographic interests of our students.
We use technology, the meeting room space, we have the ability to meet with small groups
in addition to meeting one-on-one with students, offering webinars, sessions on loan repayment,
sessions on budgeting. It's a great facility to be in.
We have this expansive, open space. It can really be home base for our students and our
alumni. Dineen Hall is the embodiment of who we are, and I think in 20 or 30 years it will
still feel the exact same way.
