Dog leads the way to bring help to human caregiver. Walking with small fox terrier Dottie on a
hot afternoon near the Neuse River in North Carolina, USA, 88-year-old Mr. Glenn Walker
took a fall down onto the rocks and found himself too weak to get up. After hours with
no one noticing his situation, Mr. Walker decided to let go of his four-year-old canine
companion to see if she could get help. Little Dottie immediately set off and found Mr. Ray
Bullock who had been locking the gates for the recreation area and noticed Mr. Walker’s
car as the only one left in the parking lot. Mr. Bullock followed Dottie, who kept running
ahead and looking back for him until she finally reached her caregiver. After calling emergency
services for assistance, Mr. Bullock stated, “If it hadn’t been for that dog, I wouldn’t
have found that man. It’s pretty remarkable.” Physically well with only minor scrapes on
his elbow and wrist, Mr. Walker was grateful for Dottie and said, “After what happened,
I don’t think there’s money that could buy her.”
Bravo Dottie for your loyalty and quick actions in leading help to save your beloved caregiver
from mishap. May Dottie and Mr. Walker enjoy many more years of joy in each other's caring
companionship. For her loving and valiant deed, Supreme Master
Ching Hai is honoring Dottie with the Shining World Hero Award, along with US$200 for vegan
treats
