This is the stupidest idea I´ve ever had.
I promise that I´ll never do this again. I´ll never ever do it again.
- It´s all about winning. - I will never do such a stupid thing again.
- Good luck, guys! You need it. - Never quit!
- You need it. Don´t worry about me. - First song?
- First song: Pair-a-Dice. Rock N Roll opening in A. - Rock N Roll opening in A.
- See you on Monday. - See you on Monday!
- Anybody want some gummy bears?
- Only 24 hours to go.
- 24 shows in 24 hours. That´s pretty ambitious?
- Yes, just about works out, doesn´t it?.
We had to come up with a way to promote the release of our new album.
We had a lot of stupid suggestions, but this was the most tiring. So we went with this one.
Good thing I´m not a bleeder.
- What happened, Geir Ove? - When we we´re going onstage,
he smashed his guitar right in my face...
…while turning around. So I started to bleed like hell.
I can afford to lose a few more liters. There´s a lot left.
But I can´t afford to lose that much on every show.
- One.
- Yeah!
I happened to see that we´re now the headlining news on Adressa.no.
"24 shows in 24 hours. At midnight the punkband Sugar Louise started a
marathon of shows in Trondheim. While ex-graduates litter
and urinate in gardens.
- What are we doing? - We´re playing shows. The graduates embarrass themselves.
- The packing gets lousier every time. - Are we ready?
- Yeah. - Good to go!
- Yes. Then we got the Fosen ferry docking behind us. And that can only mean one thing:
We´re at Fellows MC.
- You´ve got to film my bike.
- ***. A beauty of a bike you´ve got there. Nice. - Oh, you know, it´s not so bad.
- Can you smoke inside at this place? - Hello!? It´s a biker club.
Now we´re at a biker club, so this is probably a little secret and off record. We´ve got to watch out
so we don´t end up in a reality drama on TV2.
We´re not here to bust crimes, you know. Ok, let´s go.
It´s usually pretty nice at these biker clubs.
It´s brilliant to have a tuner on the guitar,
but it really doesn´t help a lot when it decides to pick up every little noise in the room.
I couldn´t get in tune over at the Diner. The guitar tuner received the whole Tiki party instead,
so everything ended up a mess.
But this is good. Now we´re ready!
We are Sugar Louise, and we are so stupid that we´re gonna play 24 shows in 24 hours.
This is show number 5. And we´re actually not doing that bad.
- We´re cheering for you! - That´s good. We could use some fans.
- *** great job, guys! - Right back at you!
- Yes, it´s very good so far.
- Next we´re going right beside the Obs! on Lade. - But there´s not enough posing, anyway.
- Ok, we´ll pose some more. - It´s noted.
- We´re gonna pose for 19 more hours. You´re gonna get plenty material.
We´re saving some of the posing, so that you´ll hang in there to get the best pictures.
I can´t wait for concert number 12 to be finished. Cause then I´m changing to a new pair of socks.
I´ve been looking forward to that a long time already. - So have we.
I´ve got one extra set of clothes, and those are going on after show number 12.
It´s gonna be a milestone. I´m getting rid of the old ones by lottery.
Five shows done. So far, so good.
A little bit tired, but the moral is high. Up next is the Go´Man bakery.
We´re pretty pleased with this being an all acoustic show.
Not too much loading, cause we´re actually a little bit tired of that already. But we´ll handle it.
That was number 7. Let´s move on.
- Where have we ended up now? - Now we have arrived Kuhaugen for a spontaneous photoshoot.
Suddenly there was a lot of time on our hands, and I guess it wasn´t any fun when we weren´t rushing.
So we had to do something to kill the time.
- Saxophone-solo, Oddvar!
- More posing!
- Oh, I could be Skjalg Råen. - Here we go!
We´re lucky to be the only band in the world with a gummy bear sponsorship from Nidar. Probably.
It´s really cool! We asked them if we could get some free candy; and then we got free candy!
I´ve got 50 of these boxes in my basement, so there´s plenty of gummy bears. Just come to the shows.
They´re actually not that bad either. Lots of sugar, you know. And "Everything´s Better With Sugar".
We´ve been doing some experimentation on how much gummy bears you can eat before it stops tasting good.
And after two or three of these bags it´s enough. That´s we´re it changes.
After three of these you really don´t want any more gummy bears. But don´t tell that to Nidar!
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Energy!
- Are we ready for 14 more shows then? - What? Is it only 14 shows left?
- Yes, according to his t-shirt it is. If he´s not cheating.
- I´ve got the feeling that we´ve been halfway for a long time now, but...
- That´s incorrect.
- But the best shows are still to come. - Yes, from now on we´ll even get a crowd.
- This is the final stretch. We´re just cruising...
- That´s what you call it? - Yes…yes.
- From noon to midnight we´re used to being awake too. We haven´t been that up until now.
Check this out! Just burn it. Throw it away.. U2 sucks, end of discussion.
_Yuk. Here´s some more. Yuk!
- What´s behind all this hatred against U2? - Personally we don´t have a particular hate against U2.
But in my eyes they are… They may not be the lousiest band in the world, but they´re the biggest lousy band in the world.
They haven´t released a decent album in 30 years, but no; they just keep going.
It´s just plain ***. They should have quit music, and focused on the politics. Plain ***.
Bono is doing just fine with his political solo career. He could probably be elected president somewhere.
But quit playing music, cause this just doesn´t work out anymore.
- But would you open up for U2, if you ever got the chance to do that?
- Well, I really don´t know.
I can´t really picture myself receiving a call from Bono, after writing a song called "U2 sucks".
Maybe we should say yes, just because he bothered to call.
- Tell me a little about what you´ve been dragged into here.
- I´ve been dragged into… Well, I feel I´ve gotten the part as tour manager. I think so.
And driver, merch-man and roadcrew in general.
- How do you think it´s going so far?
- I think it´s going very good. But it´s hard work to play 24 shows in 24 hours.
It´s brutal. In both a good and a bad way.
But the tiredness is basically what I have to fight against.
And the fact that I´d really like a beer, when I see everyone else having one.
But you really can´t do that when you´re driving.
- Maybe there´ll be one at 11 PM? - At 23:00 I promise you there we´ll be some drinking!
- Volum. In the middle of Nordre street. Sunny. Nice weather.
Half acoustic gig. The crowd is ready. We´re doing swell. This is gonna be a blast!
- We are Sugar Louise, and we´ve played twelve or thirteen shows today. What does it say on the shirt?
Twelve! This is concert number 13 today, guys. Not bad!
This is really fun!
We won´t tell anyone, but we´ve sold more records than Oslo Ess.
Nobody bought anything when they played here.
Nordre street. Number 13. Very nice show. Real fun.
- Where are we now? - We´re at Rockheim. It´s 3 o´clock.
- Already? It´s 3 o´clock already? - It´s 3 o´clock. Look at my shirt, man!
- Yes, I´m looking. How many lines is it? - 15.
- Ok. Show number 16. Rockheim. Let´s go!
- Rockheim. Show number 16 is finished. We´re marking.
Beautiful. Fantastic. Thank you for coming!
- It was a great show. - Thanx for helping out!
- "It was a great show." But you can´t film me. I say that all the time.
- What´s next? - Next up is Mercursenteret.
For the hipsterkids. The hipsterkids and downloaders.
I´ll just go and get seated, and hope that someone else fixes this. I´m tired of this.
- It´s Saturday afternoon, guys. That´s a milestone.
- The milestone for me was when we crossed halfway. - I´ve changed my socks, too. I´m just saying it.
It was fantastic. The old ones were soaking wet. I can tell you more, if you want me to.
- I left the old ones in the hall as bad examples. - You´ve got to include them in your scrapbook.
- Yes, I´m collecting all used shoes and t-shirts in a scrapbook.
- And displaying them on ebay. - Yes, on bay. That´s how we´re paying for the diesel.
- How was it to play at Mercur? - It was pretty laidback.
- Have you played there before? - No, I don´t think I´ve played at Mercur before.
At least not that I know of.
There has been a lot of places this 24 hours where we´ve never played before. Believe it or not.
You´re wondering where we are, huh? I´m gonna tell you where we are. Now we´re at Svartlamon.
At the blackest Lamon in town, to play at the tattoo parlor Lowlife.
We have been looking forward to this for a long time now, cause everyone here is so nice.
- And how many people is it here? - There is not a lot of people here,
but the few that are here, are very nice. For what I know there will be a lot of people coming over from Ramp.
- A little awkward, or was it ok? - It was very good!
- Does it deserve a line on the t-shirt? - Yes, it was a very good performance.
Can you hold this? I took some pictures for the cinema. One line, then?
- Yes, you get the idea. Good.
Thanx for having us. It was very fun to be here at Prinsen cinemacenter, where we´re at now.
- Tell me a little about this place. - Now we´re playing at a secret place..
We´re playing at a detox center, or a rehab center, so this will be exciting.
I think the audience is… I think this will be very good. There´s been such amounts of great audience everywhere.
We have played a few institutions like this before, and the people there are usually happy to get some entertainment.
It could be a little stiff, though. I don´t think we´re looking at the same amounts of dancing as usual.
- And how are you doing at this point? - I´ve been better.
It´s only four shows left, and I´m tired, my throat is sore, and I´m really just looking forward to being done with this.
I reckon the temperature will be rising later tonight, though. When we can start to plug our guitars again.
I´m starting to get tired of this acoustic ompa-lomping.
Let´s do a tribute to this beautiful weather. This is "Wastin´ Summertime"!
- Any comments? - Well, this has to be the prettiest rooftop terrace in town.
It was perfect. Nice weather, sunny, happy faces and a good mood in general. We´d love to come back here,
and we´ve already been invited. So late summer or early fall I reckon we´ll be back.
I think the audience deserves it. And we deserve it too!
- On with the shades so you don´t look like an idiot. - Oh ***, I was just about to take them off.
- Another great experience for the books. - Now it´s pedal to the metal!
- That thing up there was so cool! - But did it sound any good?
- Yes, yes. It was brilliant. - That surprises me.
- What´s happening? - Just around the corner we found this guy
who also happens to play on the album. And since he´s here with a banjo, we thought we´d recreate some studio magic.
That would be something. Wouldn´t it? - How could you guys be running late on such a day?
- Nag, nag, nag. Nagging like *** just because she´s from America. ***.
This has run smooth like a baby´s ***. We´ve just done a performance at Antikvariatet, way over our expectations.
Killer mood, straight through the roof, of the tent.
Now we´re heading for Pia´s Café, and the expectations are particulary low.
I can´t imagine more than three people showing up. But that´s how it is.
It will be like playing electric at a gas station. But we´ll do it with a smile.
At least the three people showing up will get 100% Sugar Louise. That´s how it´s always been.
- Trophy! Trophy! Trophy!
- And do you know what it says on the trophy? - RBK!!!
- Yes, it actually does. How did you know?
"Sugar Louise. The craziest release in the world. 30. april, 2011." We have just played 24 shows in 24 hours!
My god, what a band!
Finished! 24.
