Hootie-hoo!
Hey! I'm Kim Skinner. And as you can see I'm
lugging boulders around. And you might ask why?
It's because I'm getting ready for my Christmas party. Every year
I invite my neighbors over and this year's theme is "A Rolling Stone
Christmas"-
so we're going to rock 'n' roll! You can see on the wreath- I've taken a burlap wreath
and added some river stones-
not too many because it's pretty heavy, but I think it'll be able to stay here
and not fall during the party. Come on in and I'll show you what I've done.
From the town of Bedrock- I created
a rock 'n' roll tree. It weighs a ton,
but with a little bit of glitz and glamour I think it looks Christmasy,
don't you?
And then over here, I had fun doing this, a friend of mine and I painted these
rocks and turned them into little Christmasy penguins-
so it looks like the ice age. And underneath with funky lights, boulders,
crystals, gold beads- I've turned it into
a focal point so that people can understand that I am really serious
about my rocks. Come with me and I'll show you
some of the decorations I've done in the dining room, because you know it's all
about food and that's in the dining room.
In here, I've taken many
regular Christmas decorations and by simply applying polished stones
I've helped this dancing reindeer to become part
of the theme decorations. Another fun thing I did, is I took all kinds of
rocks that are rough like quartz and amethyst
and some agate and some crystals, and I glued them onto a styrofoam ball
to make a Christmas ornament- and I have several of these that are going to be
hanging around.
It all works with the Rolling Stone Christmas.
But you know, for me, Christmas can be a time
of being very busy and forgetting the One who's birth we celebrate. And in the Bible
it talks about using rocks as a memorial.
So, each guest that will be leaving from the places where I'm speaking will
go with a stone in their pocket to remind them
that in this time a turmoil and all kinds of pain,
Christ is the rock. "Lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
And He's the one that will hold us fast no matter what happens.
And for me, that's what I want to share with people during this season.
So, if this is something that is new to you, I hope you'll stay tuned
because you'll be able to see more, and if you're going to be one of the ones
attending one of the places where I speak,
I look forward to seeing you there. And I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas!
Yabadabadoo!
