Hi this is Laura Turner and today I'm going to talk with you about how to write a story
with a twist. We all know the story I'm hoping and if you don't then I wrote it for you.
The story of the popular film The Sixth Sense and the twist in that film. That in fact an
actor who, well the character who is talking to the little boy who can see dead people
right, suddenly finds out that he is also dead. So there you go. The biggest twist of
the summer of a decade ago or so. So what you'll need to think about in order to get
to that twist or a twist like that, you're going to want to plot your story very carefully.
The beauty of a story with a twist is that you never saw it coming. And everybody was
talking about The Sixth Sense saying "oh my god, I never saw that coming". Of course you
saw it coming because when you go back and you watch the film you can tell that the character
didn't talk to other characters during the film except for the little boy and things
like that. If you haven't seen the film you should go check that out so that you can actually
really get a good idea of a film with a twist. So when you go back through a film that has
a twist like that, that sort of life changing twist. You'll be able to match up the spots
and the clues that you missed because you were to busy being enthralled by the movie.
So first of all make your writing very good so that you can catch your audience off guard
later when they haven't been paying attention. But also be very self aware when you're writing
a story with a twist so that you can actually lead up to that and people go back and sort
of say "oh my gosh, why didn't I catch that before"? So good luck with writing your story
with a twist.
