Hi again, this is Kevin with WaterMagnets.com. I wanted to talk a minute about a questioin
we get all the time about wether or not in an older home you can
put magnetic water treatment units on galvanized pipe
a lot of the people in this industry will tell you "yes you can"
you can actually measure the gauss readings inside the pipe with a gauss meter
which I've done and you'll get a little bit of effect if you put them on galvanized
pipe but almost zero gauss at the center of the pipe so we certainly don't reccommend
it at all. You just won't be happy with the results. But what you can do, even if your
entire home, from where the water comes into the house is galvanized you can have a plumber
come in or you can do it your self. It's usually best to have a plumber do it. They can cut
out about a 2 foot section of the galvanized pipe and replace it with either copper or
plastic pipe, and that gives you a point to put the
first 2 magnets on, and of course the 3rd unit goes on
the output of the hot water tank. So it's OK to put the units on a short piece of
non-ferris material like the PVC or copper line. From that point on it will treat the
rest of the house just fine. It will clean out the
galvanized pipes and your hot water tank and all that.
It just can't be galvanized at the point you put the units on, otherwise the magnetics
spread up and down the pipe in stead of going through
the pipe treating the water the way they're supposed to.
So... just thought I'd clear that little issue up there, and thank you very much.
