HELPING THE LESS
FORTUNATE THIS
THANKSGIVING SEASON.
TWO PROVIDENCE
COLLEGE STUDENTS HAVE
STARTED A PROGRAM ON
CAMPUS - WHICH CALLS
FOR THE DELIVERY OF
LEFTOVER OR UNUSED
FOOD FROM THE
COLLEGE'S DINING
SERVICES TO LOCAL
SHELTERS.
IT'S CALLED "FRIAR FOOD
RESCUE" AND AFTER
SEVEN VISITS SO FAR -
THEY'VE DELIVERED MORE
THAN 700-POUNDS OF
FOOD TO THE McCAULEY
HOUSE IN PROVIDENCE.
"It's good to see that the food
we're
bringing here is being put to
good
use and not only the people that
need it appreciate it but the
people
that are preparing it."
"The giving season isn't just a
1 or 2
month thing it's a full year,
365 day
opportunity and the need is
always
there. "
(J-MO)
THE STUDENTS CAME UP
WITH THE IDEA THROUGH
THEIR INTEREST IN THE
FOOD RECOVERY
NETWORK - A NATIONAL
ORGANIZATION THAT
ENCOURAGES COLLEGES
CAMPUSES TO DONATE
LEFTOVER OR UNUSED
FOOD.
