Okay so let's do some demonstrations of how you actually can make a mess and then clean
it back up again. So we have our lovely volunteer here of a carpet sample and we have some acrylic
paint. You take your acrylic paint and Oh! Ah! Goodness! A little bit overzealous there
and you've got a big blot right on your carpet. Okay. This is acrylic paint so it's going
to be fast drying which means we shouldn't talk about it too long. Step number one, getting
acrylic paint out, try to get a lot of it up with a paper towel. This is going to get,
you see all this kind of bulbed up here, you can get a lot of the painting material out
with just a little bit of paper towel. Try not to rake it into the carpet. You're going
to be really gentle and try to get as much of the material off as possible. So you can
see a little bit comes up there. Now this is the big spot we really want to get a lot
up off. Definitely use a wedge and try to lift off a lot of this paint. This is paint
we're not going to have to worry about cleaning and scrubbing. You could also gently tap down
and get a lot more of that loose paint up. Do this a couple of times and then call it
good. Make sure you're not getting any paint on yourself. You don't want to be rubbing
that around. Now get yourself a sponge. Get yourself a little bit of water too. Pour some
water on the acrylic. This will do a couple of things, and then put the sponge over it.
First off this will keep the acrylic from drying too soon so it gives you a little bit
of extra time. You notice the green looks like it's going to town. Then get yourself
some basic run of the mill carpet cleaner. Spray judiciously. Okay. Now that's in there.
Now with the rough side of our sponge we're actually going to start scrubbing things out
a little bit.
We still notice a lot of green popping up. Get a paper towel or maybe a new one. Go back
over it and also do a little bit of scrubbing yourself with a paper towel. You're going
to notice that the acrylic is going to start coming out. You're going to keep getting less
and less green in your stain. Basically you're going to keep repeating this process until
the acrylic is all the way out because what you're going to notice is the more water and
everything, now see the center area? That's looking pretty good. A lot of the acrylic
is out of there. So you're going to want to keep applying this then you can basically
get all the paint up and out of your carpet. If things get too crazy sudsy then you go
back in there and you're basically going to dry things up more with your paper towel.
As soon as things are dry you've cleaned your carpet.
