In this tutorial I will be showing you how to do the Wavy Stitch.
and i will be showing you how to do it in rows
and you can use any size yarn
and any size hook that goes well with that yarn
To do our Wavy Stitch in rows
we want to do it in sets of fourteen
plus two
to have our stitches on the ends
and then plus one because we can't actually
go into
the last stitch on our hook
so you have to do that plus one
so if you want to do you want to do, one two three four
five six seven eight
nine
ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen
so that'll be
what we need for our first set
counting....
fourteen
okay
So two sets of fourteen, that is what we needed
for our actual sets of stitches
but we also need stitches to end and begin the row
so you could
one
for one ending stitch
and then another one for the other end
so you will have one extra stitch for here, and one extra stitch for this side
now you can actually go in
without losing a stitch
lose one of the end stitches you would need
so you could do it
an additional chain
and this is what I mean by plus 2, then plus 1
so now when you work in the second chain from the hook
you will lose that plus 1 immediately
then single crochet in the next stitch
now i recommended to go ahead
and give your stitches a good anchor
by single crocheting the first row
we should have a total of thirty
ok now i have
a chain of thirty
so this would be great to make an afghan with or you can make a scarf
having thirty like we have
is
kind of a
wide scarf, but it's still good
and chain one, if you wanted a skinner scarf
remember you need to chain fourteen
and then chain an additional two, so that you have a stitch on both ends
so you will have a total of sixteen stitches
and then chain one more
to be able to work into that second chain, you will lose the seventh chain right away
so to start chain seventeen for a skinny scarf
anyway, chain one and turn
you want to single crochet in the first stitch
and then you wanna skip
three stitches, one two three, and in the fourth
you want to do seven
double crochets all in the same stitch
one
two
three
four
five
six
and seven
then skip three stitches and in the fourth
do a single crochet
counting...
seven, and again
you want to skip three
and in the fourth you want to do seven double crochets all in the same stitch
one
two
three
four
five
six
and seven
and again skip three
and in the fourth
start your row of seven single crochets
one
two
three
four
five
six
and seven
and then do your last single crochet
as your plus one on this side
and chain one and turn
and now for this row
you want to single crochet in each
stitch
and if you want to make a nice look, you can always change colors here
for this row and every other row you will want to single crochet in each stitch
until the end of the row
when you get to the end of the row
it looks like this
this is your third row
so for your fourth row
you want to chain one
and turn
now you always want to do a single crochet in the first and last stitch of
the row
so always do your first
single crochet and now working over your shell you want to do your seven
single crochets
two
three
four
five
six and seven
and then you want to skip
three stitches
one
two three
and in the fourth you want to start
your shell
of seven double crochets
counting....
and seven
and again, everytime you do a shell or your single crochets
you always want to make sure you skip three stitches
we we skip three stitches and in the in the fourth
working over your fan
you want to do your seven single crochets
four
five
six
and seven
and then you want to skip three stitches
and then in the fourth you want to do your seven
double crochets
one, two
three
four
five
six
and seven
then you skip three and in your last stich
you always put a single crochet
then you want to chain one and turn
now once you've chained one and turned
you always want to do a single crochet in the first stitch
also everytime you do a row so single crochets and shells, the very next row will
always be a row of just single crochets
and in every row of single crochets you can use
to your advantage and use
another color
or change color ever row if you want
just
an idea
so you want to do one single crochet
in each of my stitches and I'll see you back here in a minute
okay when you've come to the end of your row, as always chain one and turn
and again as always you will
automatically you will do one single crochet in the first stitch
now since you did your shells here
last time you want to now move your shells to here
so not counting the first stitch
because there is always a single crochet in there
you want to skip three and count over to the fourth stitch and
work your seven double crochets
in the same stitch
and seven
skip three stitches
then work
your seven
single crochets
in a row
seven
and again
skip three stitches
do your seven
double crochets
and seven
skip three
and start your
single crochets
just like that
flip it over again
you want to do one single crochet in each stitch this row
then you will chain one and turn
then you will single crochet in your first stitch
then start your
single crochets
of seven
immediately after your first single crochet so you'll actually have
eight single crochets in a row at the beginning of this row
then skip your three stitches
then working your double crochet shell
and keep
alternating back and forth
and you will always be doing a row of single crochets inbetween
and that is how you do
the Wavy Shell stitch
Thanks for Watching!
