SUNY: What's your name?
David: Dave Campbell\par SUNY: Where are you from?
David: I'm originally from Newport News, Virginia but now I teach at SUNY Cobleskill.
SUNY: Now, we know you're recently named Chef Educator of the Year by the American Culinary
Foundation, congratultions on that. Can you speak to what that means to you?
David: It really was amazing. I was up against a couple of really good competitors so I honestly
didn't expect to win at all but to have your name announced there with all your peers,
people that have taught you along the way and you know people that I've looked up to
to actually to be selected as Northeast Educator of the Year it really was just amazing and
I'm looking forward to going to Las Vegas and competing for the national title in July.
SUNY: Well good luck in July. Now that you are named this, what does that mean for you
going forward as a Cobleskill professor and as a SUNY instructor?
David: Well I mean it's, my students have actually given me a little bit of grief about
it. They kind of are saying they're expecting me really to be unbelievable the next couple
of years now that I'm an award-winning chef. I'm not sure much will change really I think
it validates all the hard work I've put in the education, the professional development,
and all of that and I just look forward really to continuing my career at SUNY Cobleskill.
SUNY: That's really great. Thank you so much for your time today.
David: Thank you I appreciate you for having me.
SUNY: And good luck in Las Vegas again. David: Thanks a lot, Maxwell.
